Coach Drew Omicioli of the Louisiana IceGators spent a Saturday with the Louisiana Cane Cutters baseball team and the TailGators fan group. Before the game, Coach was given the honor of throwing out the first pitch.
Just a bit inside..... Actually, if you throw a pitch that far inside, the batter may decide to approach you with bad intentions. Which may explain why the Louisiana IceGators signed 6'6" 250 pound defenseman Anthony Pisano. |
Pisano is the definition of bad intentions. The 4th year pro has made the rounds through the FHL, SPHL, and CHL; leaving a trail of bruised egos and faces among the souls brave enough to drop the gloves with him.
The signing of Pisano, along with fellow tough guys Alex Hudson and Tyler Barr, sends notice to the other teams in the SPHL: The Louisiana IceGators are not to be trifled with. Checking skill players a little too tightly will result in a painful learning experience. Coach Omicioli mentioned, "I felt teams took full advantage of both intimidating our squad and playing much tougher physically than they had earlier in the season. One of my goals this off season was to bring in a true enforcer, with great size, who had the ability to play a regular shift every game." |
Pisano's game is that of a stay-at-home defenseman, and not the kind of player who will pinch up in the offensive zone. He describes his game very simply, "I bring a physical presence to the game. If someone gets between me and my teammate’s goals, I tend to pull their jersey over their head and punch them in the face a few times."
