It was one of the worst-kept secrets during this SPHL off-season. Tyler Barr - the fan favorite with a propensity for pugilism - is ready to return for his 4th season in the Frozen Swamp. The news became official this afternoon, but Barr and the IceGators have been hinting at the signing for weeks. Last month, season ticket holders were surprised with an impromptu telephone call from Barr, as a part of getting fans ready for the upcoming season.

The one-two combo of Barr and Pisano will give our fans a show and allow their teammates to do what they do best knowing those two have their backs. |
Barrsy played 26 games with the IceGators last season, racking up penalty minutes at a team high 7-per-game clip. He earned a callup to the ECHL Allen Americans and was productive before injuries cut his season short. The 6'2, 220 pound forward is an enforcer with a scoring touch, and can float around on all three lines when he's needed. Barr, along with D Anthony Pisano and C Alex Hudson, will give this season's edition of the IceGators a powerful presence on the ice.
In the official team announcement, coach Drew Omicioli echoed these sentiments. "Last season we had the most success when Barr was in our lineup. The one-two combo of Barr and Pisano will give our fans a show and allow their teammates to do what they do best knowing those two have their backs."
Here's my favorite Barr bout from last season - A two-rounder with the Sasquatch: Fayetteville's Tyler Sheldrake. Enjoy, y'all.
